SPTuris plans to resume tourism and events sector

Despite the difficulties imposed by the pandemic in the segments of tourism and events, the president of São Paulo Turismo (SPTuris), Luiz Alvaro Salles Aguiar de Menezes, believes that the sector must be prepared for the resumption of activities, with safe sanitary conditions.

Menezes, who has just completed 100 days in office, explains that the official events and tourism company in the city of São Paulo has been working on various measures and projects, with the aim of bringing more efficiency, transparency, streamlining processes and restructuring the administrative areas of the organization .

According to him, the aim is to further strengthen the company responsible for the production, organization and dissemination of events on the city’s official agenda and further strengthen partnerships with the private sector.

He highlights some actions taken in the first 100 days of management:

Anhembi Complex.

Concession of the Anhembi complex

On January 15th, the bidding process for the concession of the Anhembi complex was approved in the Official Gazette of the City of São Paulo, with the winning proposal of the French company GL Events. The concession will last for 30 years, a period in which investments of R $ 2 billion are expected and savings of R $ 600 million, totaling a total of R $ 2.6 billion in benefits for São Paulo. With this, the spaces will be expanded and modernized, with the strengthening of the city of São Paulo and Anhembi in the segment of international fairs and conventions.

Celebration of 30 years of the Anhembi Sambadrome

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Polo Cultural Grande Otelo, popularly known as Sambódromo, on February 1, SPTuris programmed several actions, such as free guided tour, exhibition of vintage cars, as well as presentations at Espaço Cultural Carnaval in partnership with the Liga SP. On the occasion, there was also the presentation of the Court of Carnival 2020.

In an unprecedented event, the parachutists of the Red Bull Skydive Team landed at the Anhembi Sambadrome, in honor of the revelers who were unable to “skip the carnival”, and promoted a true parade of the skies to the sacred ground of samba. Professionals jumped from a height of 2,600 meters – the equivalent of 85 ten-story buildings.

Vale do Anhangabaú wins CIT unit

SPTuris is responsible for the operation of the Tourist Information Center (CIT) in the new Anhangabaú Valley, opened on February 22, 2021 and installed next to the new skate park. The space serves the public daily, from 9 am to 6 pm, and is next to a base of the Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM). This was the first delivery of the gradual opening of the site requalification works by the City of São Paulo.

Produced by SPTuris, the City of São Paulo paid a special tribute on this year’s International Women’s Day. On the night of March 8, the new Anhangabaú Valley, the Viaduto do Chá and the headquarters of the City Hall received lilac lighting to mark the date and symbolize the debut of the revitalized space in the city center.

Action Lives in the Center

Created in April 2020, the unprecedented action Vidas no Centro has the production and infrastructure of SPTuris and, in April 2021, it has already reached over 1.6 million services in twelve months since its implementation.
The initiative consists of offering basic conditions so that people in a situation of social vulnerability can take care of personal hygiene, with male and female toilets, bathing booths and laundries. Currently, there are 5 stations in operation: Praça da Sé, Praça da República, Praça Civico Ulisses Guimarães (Parque D. Pedro II), Largo do Paissandu, Praça Júlio Prestes. The structure assembled by SPTuris includes:
– Bathroom for PCD and families;
– Access ramps;
– Screening of regulars;
– Individual cabins;
– Selective collect;
– Operational base with producers, cleaning agents, security guards, firefighters and porters
– Deposit of support materials.
Throughout the project, the SPTuris team made several adjustments to both the infrastructure and the operation of the units, to ensure maximum productivity and serve users quickly and with quality.
